GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) allows data to be sent between the customers alarm system and the Monitoring Centre.  GPRS operates on the digital mobile network, and similar to Telstra Secure Wireless, monitors the intergity of the communications link between the customers premises and the Monitoring Centre.

Solutions that GPRS provide to the customer can include variable polling rates beginning at 90 seconds, and ranging from 60 to 240 minute polling intervals.

Most GPRS devices allow a back up communications path to be connected, in the event that the GPRS connection is lost.  The primary and secondary communications paths can also be swapped at the customers requirements.

GPRS is available from a range of suppliers.  Please check with your installer or SMC to ensure that SMC is able to satisfy your selected device.  GPRS may not be available in all areas, so please check with your installer first.

Ongoing fees and charges do apply for connection to the GPRS network.
