Employee safety is of ery important concern to companys in our changing world, but how can you create a safe working environment for your staff in the field or those that work alone?  By utilising SMC's Global Positioning System (GPS) alarm tracking service, you can provide your staff with a mobile device that will alert the Monitoring Center when assistance is required.

What can SMC trak do for my customer

What devices can SMC monitor?

SMC can monitor a range of solutions from GSM to Satellite based devices.  By utilising the inbuilt GPS reciever, the units co-ordinates are sent to SMC via text message, GPRS connection or satellite call and responded to by the Response Centre operators.   SMC currently monitors the Benefontm  and Skynet Mobile Communications extensive range of devices.

How does this help my staff or customers?

By utilising the latest in GPS mobile duress devices, the user can press the designated emergency button to alert the Monitoring Center that they require assistance.  SMC can then put into place your specified instructions.  This may be to call the police service to advise of their location, or send a group SMS out to other users in the area to attend the site and assist the user.

A feature that SMC can support (device dependant) is "Listen in".  The device makes a phone call to a dedicated line into the Monitoring Centre and allows the Operator to advise the Police, or designated contact of any situation that is occuring onsite.  This dedicated line is also recorded, a copy of which can be supplied upon request.

Is it only personal duress that SMC monitors?

No. SMC can monitor in-vehicle units that will alert the Monitoring Centre if it has moved outside of your specified hours.  Bobcats and other Earthmoving machinery that are left onsite unattended are prime targets for theft, and could cost thousands in not only replacing and insurance premiums, but lost productivity.  Let SMC know the times that your equipment is not in use, and if is subject to unauthorised use, we will alert you.  Tracking devices that can send photo snapshots are also a reality with SMC Trak, and can be event triggered, i.e. when a door is open or even when the vehicle reaches a certain speed.

GSM vs Satellite and GPS?

Depending upon the requirements, the choice between which device you require is simple.  If the user works within an area where an average GSM Digital mobile phone will work, the GSM option may be right for your customer.  If the unit is attached to a vehicle that travels the country, through areas where GSM may not work, the Satellite option would be ideal.  Both options require the user to have either a normal mobile phone account, a GPRS enabled SIM card or contract with a Satellite communications provider.   GPS does not need a connection to a telco provider, and should work whilst the unit has a line of sight with the sky.  The GPS part of the devices is a receiver only, and therefore does not transmit any signals.
